pairing speakers

Michele Jan 14, 2014 05:05PM CST

Is it possible to pair speakers? I would love to have one upstairs and one downstairs playing the same music from my ipad/ipod so I could have music playing throughout the house. We currently have 1 Soundfreaq SFQ-02RB Sound Step Bluetooth Wireless Speaker and I'd like to be able to purchase another for upstairs - but play them at the same time. Is this possible?

Michele,

Thank you for being a Soundfreaq customer. I understand you'd like to have a central sound system in your house that plays off multiple Soundfreaq units. Unfortunately, current Bluetooth technology does not allow devices to connect to more than one audio system at the same time. Therefore, you would not be able to sync additional speakers if you were to buy any additional units.

However, please note our newest system, the SFQ-06 Sound Platform 2 has the capabilities for audio separation for up to two units. Both units must be SFQ-06 to achieve dual Bluetooth streaming. http://soundfreaq.com/soundplatform2

Furthermore, these two speakers must be placed within a clear line of sight of each other, up to 10 meters as standard for all Bluetooth devices. Therefore, the setup you describe of having one upstairs and one downstairs will most likely not work.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I don't expect the Mod's to approve this but the Gramofon on Kickstarter which workes over WiFi will do this.

Emanuel, thank you for your feedback, and we certainly support an insightful discussion on different alternatives--we want users to find the best speaker for their listening needs, regardless of which brand! There are many ingenious options for multi-speaker sound system, the most popular currently being Apple's AirPlay.

Any other questions or feedback, please let us know.

It's over a year since this question was asked. Are there any updates? I love your product but want it to work throughout the house (two or more units, definitely no line-of-sight).

Kara, thank you for being a Soundfreaq customer, and we don't plan on updating our old models.

However, Google just released a new Chromecast audio that will allow you to attach each of these small dongles to any speaker to allow simultaneous streaming.

Hope that helps! Any other questions, please let us know.
