windows 8.1

John Oct 30, 2013 07:25AM CDT

My soundkick is being recognized but will not connect and shows no signal strength after the windows 8.1 update? Is there something I can do or does there need to be an update?

John, thank you for being a Soundfreaq customer, and I'm sorry to hear you are having pairing issues on the new Windows 8.1. If you are still able to pair the Kick with other devices, such as a smartphone or tablet, then it is a driver update issue with Windows. We recommend contacting your computer make directly for the best troubleshooting solutions. I apologize that at this time we do not have more details in regards to PC pairing. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I have the same problem, though no issues with other things connecting to the soundfreaq.

Steve, thank you for being a Soundfreaq customer, and I'm sorry to hear you are also experiencing issues with Windows 8. If you are still able to connect other devices to the Soundfreaq, it is a driver issue with the PC and we recommend contacting the manufacturer directly. We don't have a specific driver for Soundfreaq as it uses standard A2DP protocol and the driver is provided by the OS, Bluetooth component manufacturer or computer make. In the meantime, we understand this is far from the best workaround, please know you can always connect the PC to the Soundfreaq via the AUX input.

Thank you for your patience, and please let us know if you have any other questions.

This seems to be a common problem with Windows 8.1. From what I can tell it just will not connect to my Sound Kick. Someone from soundfreaq needs to touch bases with Microsoft about this. My Sound Kick is useless to me right now.

Don, thank you for being a Soundfreaq customer, and I'm sorry to hear you are also experiencing issues with Bluetooth pairing on Windows. Unfortunately, as you already know, we do not have any troubleshooting tips at this time for 8.1. Do you have any other A2DP Bluetooth speakers you could try pairing to see if the issue persists? This is to verify whether it is an issue with Windows or the Kick itself.

If it is a Windows incompatibility issue, we do suggest contacting your computer manufacturer itself as they would have the most updated information and driver recommendations for your PC.

I apologize I could not be of more help, and please let us know your troubleshooting results. In the meantime, please know you can always connect the Kick via the AUX input with the included 3.5mm audio cable. Obviously this is not ideal as we are big supporters of wireless listening ourselves.
