Josh, thank you for your interest in Soundfreaq, and we're happy to help make the best purchasing decision to suit your needs.

First, in regards to sound, the power output is the same. Subjectively we feel the sound quality is the same. We recommend making the purchasing decision based on other needs and features that differ between the two models.

SFQ-01 Platform
15 x 9 x 9 inches, 7.2lbs
40W of RMS power (20W x 2)

SFQ-06 Platform 2 (Bluetooth/AUX only)
12.9 x 6.9 x 4.8 inches, 4.4lbs
2 X 3" speakers, 40W of RMS power (20W x 2)
Optional battery 4000mAh, 1.7lbs
Power adapter 1lb

One of the advantages of the original SP is that it comes with an iOS 30-pin adapter. If that is not important to you, we'd recommend going with the SP2. Features that the SP2 comes with that the SP does not have:

- 2 USB charging ports
- ability to turn off indicator light (Light Bar)
- ability to turn off power savings mode (auto shut off after 30 minutes of new music playing)
- optional battery for portability for additional $50
- optional DSS (Dual System Streaming) with a purchase of a second SP2

Consider the SP2 an upgraded version of the original, many of its additional features were added thanks to user feedback. Depending on the country you are located in, we recommend checking online for the best competitive pricing, and you may find that the SP2 is comparable in price to the original.

Hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Does the original Platform have an adapter for the new iPhone 5s? Adapter to change from a 30-pin to the lighting connection.

Crystal, thank you for your interest in Soundfreaq, and none of our models come with the 30 pin to Lightning adapter (except for the Sound Stack limited editions). We recommend purchasing it directly from Apple, or considering one of our Lightning version models, including the Step Lightning or Step Lightning Recharge. If you are looking for the power of the original Platform, you may also want to look into the Sound Platform 2. There is no iOS dock available, but you can always connect your iPhone 5 over Bluetooth, and charge with the USB port on the back of the speaker.

Hope that helps! Please let us knwo if you have any other questions.
