Model SFQ-04 powers off after 30 minutes

John Trautschold Sep 03, 2015 10:39AM CDT

I've read a lot of the replies already posted here about this being a problem with the older units. Mine is a couple of years old and has powered itself down after 30 minutes pretty much forever. I'm guessing that the unit is out of warranty now, but I have to wonder why this is even happening? Since you made changes to newer models my guess is that there is/was some sort of defect causing this. In my case, there is nothing obviously wrong with the battery - it charges and holds a charge perfectly. The 30 minute sleep mode shut down even occurs when the unit is plugged in and getting audio from an iPad or iPhone. Otherwise the unit sounds great and I enjoy using it but having to reset the thing every 30 minutes is certainly annoying. At the very least can these be returned for repair?

John, thank you for being a Soundfreaq customer, and I'm sorry to hare you've dealt with the shut off issue for so long! I understand yours is more than a year old--is this a new out of box issue, or did it only start happening recently?

As you know, if the issue persists even when you are plugged in, then it is a defect with the unit, and we'll still be happy to get you up and running, even if you are out of warranty.

Please send us a private inquiry with your address, phone number, approximately how long you've owned the unit before the issue occurred, and the serial number located on the bottom of the speaker on a white barcode sticker.

Thank you for your patience, and I apologize for the inconvenience. Any questions, please let us know.

I purchased my Sound Rise in April of this year. Recently, the radio is going off at 3 a.m. full (30) volume without an alarm setting. The radio is in my master bath and I listen(ed) to it every morning. But now, even though the sound is on 10, it takes off on its own and goes up to 25 waking others. At times I am not able to turn the sound down because it goes into sleep set mode.

I liked the unit so much I bouht my daughter the same unit in May for her bathroom. She is not having this problem (yet).

Was there a recall on this?

John, thank you for being a Soundfreaq customer, and I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing phantom alarms on your Sound Rise. Just to verify, do you own the model SFQ-08 Sound Rise? You can verify the model number on the bottom of the speaker.

There hasn't been a reoccurring issue of this nature, but based on your description, it does sound like buttons are depressed without you actually touching it. If you haven't done so already, please try resetting the speaker by unplugging it for fifteen seconds before powering it back on.

If the issue persists, unfortunately, we do recommend replacing the speaker all together. Please just send us a private inquiry, and we'll set you up with a replacement unit, via mail, under our one year warranty.

Thank you for your patience, and I apologize for the inconvenience. Any questions, please let us know.
