Bluetooth interference

Jason Aug 22, 2015 11:27AM CDT

I just purchased and set up the Soundfreaq SoundKick. Bluetooth connection to my MBP (Yosemite 10.10.4) went fine, however I seem to have the same problem other users have reported with intermittent interference with WiFi or other Bluetooth devices. I moved the Apple Air Port away from the SoundKick device, however I have other peripherals plugged into it so I need to leave it on my desk. Is there an optimal distance between the Sound Kick and a wireless access point? Thanks / Jason

Jason, thank you for being a Soundfreaq customer, and I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing WiFi interference on the MacBook. When you turn off WiFi on the MacBook, does the interference cease completely?

Does the issue persist when you connect the Kick with another device, such as a smartphone?

Please do let us know your troubleshooting results. Any other questions, please let us know.

I actually have an ethernet connection from my home office location and disable the WiFi when I'm docked. There is a cordless phone base station on my desk as well as an Apple magic mouse that connects to the MBP via Bluetooth. The connection is still unstable and exceptionally frustrating.

I did test the connection using a bluetooth enabled Android (5.1) phone and the connection was much more stable. I have been using that device for streaming music and it's working well. I would like to see if there is a solution to the connection with the MBP. Thanks / Jason

Jason, thank you for being a Soundfreaq customer, and your troubleshooting experience is omt helpful.

Does the issue persist when you connect with a passcode?

I have forwarded your case to our team--unfortunately at this time we don't have any more tips or solutions for the choppy Bluetooth connection with Macs. I understand it can make for a very frustrating listening experience.

Again, thank you for your patience, and I apologize for the inconvenience. Any other questions or feedback, please let us know.

Jason, our team also suggests moving the Mac and the Kick set up away from any interference, including WiFi routers and wireless phones to see if the choppy connection issue persists.

We also understand the latest OS update includes "Bluetooth fixes", so that may be worth a shot as well.

I understand a poor connection can make for a very frustrating listening experience, and we apologize we could not be of more help. Please do let us know if make any new discoveries.

Thanks for the follow up. I have been using my Android device to connect and stream using Google Play and things have been working ok. Please keep me posted if there are any solutions for the Mac. Thanks / Jason
